Part of the new Heathrow Terminal 2 (The Queens Terminal) which is being built to replace the previous Terminal 2 and other airport service buildings. With a construction value of £660M, Terminal 2B is an air-side pier building with underground access from the main terminal building. Heathrow Airport Ltd commissioned the BRE to develop a Tailored BREEAM assessment and apply this across the T2 development to evaluate the benefits of BREEAM to the ongoing development program. Using this Tailored BREEAM standard, T2B became the first large terminal building to achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
